So, yesterday was Friday and I started the day with a nice ride on the Strassenbahn (streetcar) and then classes. First we had German and I just love our teacher. She is someone that you could just sit in silence and listen to her for hours. She is probably in her mid-fifties and there is just so much about her that you can tell she has lived an interesting life so far. Anyways, as much fun as German class is, I had a slight issue on Friday. I currently have a cold and bad cough, so I don't know if this was the problem, but I either fell asleep or was way out of it. This class is very interactive and she, of course, called on me and asked why I wasn't with them. I was so confused, I didn't even feel like I knew where I was. Strangest feeling ever. Anyways, she made me read a word, which I completely butchered and we eventually moved on and boy was I focused the rest of class. Ahhhhhh.....my life! Anyways, next we had Humanities. I am not really good at history or art or things of the sort, so this class is already difficult for me. We usually have class for 2 hours, but this day, we spent an hour trying to vote and debate on a name for this bison head that we have, which I think we are leaving it at the place we have class to represent Lipscomb, but I'm not exactly sure... I was not in the room when they explained what was going on! Anyways, it was a very fun hour and I feel like it was good bonding for our group, even though people were disagreeing. Oh and his name is officially Buford... I think it is so cool when such a big group can bond, form memories together, and even create inside jokes! Well, after this break, we had class for the last hour and I found out we have a test on Tuesday. After class, I went home for lunch and took an accidental nap. Later, I wanted to go read in a park, since we have to read the book, Night, by Wednesday. I went to this park full of hammocks and it was such a nice and peaceful place to read!
After the park, a big group of us went to a Japanese restaurant, which turned out to be kinda good. We decided to go eat out to celebrate our first week of classes and our German teacher highly recommended this place. I ordered lemon chicken and had no idea what to expect, but it was very good! After this, we went to a popular place among our group, Tichy Eis. This is an ice cream shop on the other side of town, but it is soooo good and cheap and is only open for two more weeks, so we are taking full advantage of the time we have. Then, we came back to the apartments and watched the movie, Babies on the projector. That was my first Friday in Vienna without jet lag and I loved it!
Today was also a good day! A lot of our group woke up and went to the zoo. This zoo is the oldest in the world and it sits on the ground of my favorite palace so far. Although it is the oldest zoo, it is somehow very modern. It was a lot bigger than expected, but I really enjoyed it. Probably a one time thing though, since it was kinda expensive....but, worth the experience!
We spent a majority of the day here, so the rest of my day wasn't too exciting. However, I got to take a nap, make myself a good dinner, and talk to my family, neighbor, and one of my best friends from school! I would classify this as a very good day! Now it is way later than I expected and I have to wake up kinda early tomorrow for this project and then church! Have a great rest of the weekend!
Well, I don't like the part about falling asleep in class... :) Hope you get over this cold. But, I do love the rest of the blog. The zoo pictures are fun. Have a good day today.
